It’s like something from a bad dream.
You arrive at airport only to find your bags, money and passport are missing. Then you wake up.
But for British tourist Suzanne Jones, 57, it was a reality after she stepped out of the taxi at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok without her bag.
The traveler walked through the doors then realised she had forgotten her black shoulder bag. She ran back to the taxi area but it was too late. The driver had driven off with a bag containing her passport, Macbook Pro, 3,000 USD, 6,000THB and other gadgets.
This was at 10pm on Saturday night – with just a couple of hours to go until boarding started for her 1am Emirates flight to the Middle East.
Remarkably, staff at the airport were able to check CCTV of Suzanne leaving the taxi, identify it’s number plate, trace the driver and call him on his cell phone.
Now that’s efficiency for you!
The taxi driver returned to the airport while Emirates staff made special arrangements for Suzanne to check in speedily.
With just moments to spare before take off, the driver rolled up at the airport with the bag containing all her valuable belongings.
There was just enough time for them all pose for a picture.
It’s a lovely story and goes to show that Thai airport staff can be amazingly efficient.
Let’s hope she bought him a coffee at the least to say thanks!
