Thailand will use Pokemon Go to boost the country’s struggling tourism industry, it emerged today.

The country’s big money spinner has been rocked by a spate of deadly bombings this month.

Four people were killed and dozens more injured after bomb explosions in Hua Hin, Phuket, Surat Thani and Phangna.

Thai tourism minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul is now pinning her hopes on Pokemon Go to keep the tourism industry afloat.

She wants to make a booklet for master Pokemon players detailing where to find rare Pokemon in Thailand.

And Thai officials are apparently in talks with the game’s producers Niantic to increase the number of rare Pokemon, Pokestops and gyms used for playing the game.

The Thai government has already produced Pokemon maps to inspire more Pokemon tourism. But they’ll be pushing to attract more fans of the hit game.

Pokemon Go was released in Thailand at the end of September, a number of weeks after the U.S. and Europe.

The app proved an enormous success with people going crazy to catch them all.

But earlier this month the Thai government complained to Niantic, the makers of Pokemon Go, over fears that a number of Pokemon in Thailand were found in ‘sensitive areas’.

Pokemon U-Turn

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission threatened to ban the game if Niantic did not remove characters from state property, temples, private and dangerous areas, including roads, waterways and railways.

The Thai government sent a letter to Niantic and gave them a week to implement the changes.

It now looks like tourism officials will make a U-turn as they ask for the firms help to add more Pokemon in Thailand.

Where to find Pokemon in Thailand

Pokemon can often be found at Buddhist shrines in big cities like Bangkok.

Large tourist attractions are also home to a number of Pokemon.

A number of Pokemon have also been spotted on Soi Cowboy and other adult venues
